SHEPHERDS PIE
This is another comfort food. In any weather, this one just hits the spot. The base is a thick tomatoey beef filling, with plenty of vegetables and herbs. On top are swoops of creamy mashed potatoes with cheese melted on top and broiled to make a perfect crust.
5 or 6 white potatoes
3 celery stalks
1 can peas
thyme
sour cream
1 sm. Can tomato paste
flour
1/2 c. shredded white cheddar cheese
3 lg. carrots
med. Yellow onion

1 lb. lean ground beef
