NATCHITOCHES MEAT "POT" PIE
Natchitoches (pronounced NACK-uh-dish) is famous for these meat pies and they have been sold on the street and at various public events for many years. It is one of the official state foods of Louisiana. You may have seen similar recipes for Jamaican Meat Pies or Empanadas. They are all good, the difference is in the meat mixture! The only real change I made to standard Louisiana recipe is that I added a couple of garlic cloves and cut back on the salt and pepper in exchange for Cajun seasoning.
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 lb. ground pork
1 bunch green onions
med. Sweet onion
green bell pepper
4 garlic cloves
flour
Cajun seasoning
black pepper
crushed red pepper
beef broth
cooking sherry
Worcestershire sauce
hot sauce
1 pkg. frozen puff pastry
1 lg. egg
sea salt
