FRIED CHICKEN
Fried chicken is a staple in the south and was always a treat when my mom would fix it for us. The marinade is my addition to her recipe, the rest is all her! I usually fry the chicken in my Dutch oven, but you can use a deep fryer or do like my mom did and use your cast iron skillet. One thing you can do if you’re like me and can’t cut up a chicken decently, is to buy one of those packages from the grocery store with the chicken already cut up.
1 fryer chicken
4 c. vegetable oil
4 c. buttermilk
1 c. hot sauce
cayenne pepper
paprika
garlic powder
onion powder
2 c. flour
2 c. cornstarch
Cajun seasoning
kosher salt
black pepper
